Live the Word

The Word of God is full of guidelines about the way we are to live our daily lives while we are here on earth so that we can be a blessing to others and glorify God. Jesus Christ – the Living Word of God – lived His life this way when He was here on earth. If we abide in Him and let Him abide in us as He instructed us to do in John 15:4, we will be able to live our lives this way too.

Some guidelines to live by:

Hide God’s Word in your heart, so that you will not sin against Him.

Psalm 119:11

Let the words of your mouth and the meditation
of your heart be acceptable in God’s sight.

Psalm 19:14

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path.

Proverbs 3:6

Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season
you will reap good, if you do not lose heart.

Galatians 6:9

As you have the opportunity, do good to all,
especially to those who are of the household of faith.

Galatians 6:10

Treat others the way you want them to treat you.

Matthew 7:12

Be the salt of the earth.

Matthew 5:13

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt ...

Colossians 4:6

Be the light of the world.

Matthew 5:15

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see
your good works and glorify your Father in Heaven.

Matthew 5:16

Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who
hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.

Matthew 5:44

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Galatians 6:2

Be kind to one another, tender–hearted, forgiving
one another, just as God in Christ also forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. And
love your neighbor as yourself.

Mark 12:30, 31

Do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:17

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may
be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Ephesians 6:11

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.

Colossians 3:2

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Colossians 3:17

If you lack wisdom, ask God in faith and it will be given to you.

James 1:5, 6

Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath.

James 1:19

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

James 4:8

Share what you have with those in need.

1 John 3:17

Always pursue what is good both for yourself and for all.

1 Thessalonians 5:15

Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly
love, in honor giving preference to one another.

Romans 12:10

As much as depends on you, live peaceably with everyone.

Romans 12:18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give
thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Be doers of the Word and not hearers only ...

James 1:22

There are many more guidelines in the Word of God about how we are to live our daily lives and I encourage you to take the time to read them and apply them to your life. You will feel good knowing that you are living the way God wants you to live as well as being a blessing to others and glorifying Him.
